White House Suddenly Changes Story on Obama’s Uncle
Apparently Barack Obama lived with his uncle, Onyango “Omar” Obama, while attending Harvard Law School, although the president previously denied having met him.
At an immigration hearing Omar stated to the panel that his “nephew” lived with him in the 1980s.
This prompted the Obama administration to come clean about their relationship to the press.
Eric Schultz, spokesman for the White House stated publically: “The president did stay with him for a brief period of time until his apartment was ready. After that, they saw each other once every few months, but after law school they fell out of touch. The president has not seen him in 20 years, has not spoken with him in 10.”
This admission to misinform the public and press about the relationship between Obama and his uncle gives rise to the fact that Omar was living illegally in the US for over 4 decades; maintaining his Kenyan citizenship.
Jay Carney, press secretary for the White House claimed that the “mix-up was the result of a miscommunication. No one spoke to the president. I thought it was the right thing to do to go ask him.”
Media reported last year that the Obama administration claimed that “the two men never met”.
This Uncle Omar is the same relative Obama refers to in his memoir Dreams From My Real Father, where he recounts a trip to Kenya in 1988 and visiting with Omar.
