Senator Graham: ‘Scumbags’ in the White House Lied About Benghazi
Senator Lindsey Graham said on a radio program that “the scumbags are the people in the White House who lied about [Benghazi].”
Bret Baier, spokesperson for the NCS, told media that President Obama was not in the Situation Room during the attack on Benghazi, but in the White House and being briefed constantly on the unfolding attack.
The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee (HOGRC) has issued a subpoena for John Kerry, Secretary of Defense, with regard to recently released documents regarding Benghazi.
Darrell Issa, chair of the HOGRC said in a letter to Kerry: “The State Department’s response to the congressional investigation of the Benghazi attack has shown a disturbing disregard for the Department’s legal obligations to Congress.”
Issa continued: “Compliance with a subpoena for documents is not a game. Because your Department is failing to meet its legal obligations, I am issuing a new subpoena to compel you to appear before the Committee to answer questions about your agency’s response to the congressional investigation of the Benghazi attack.”
Angered by the recent documents provided by a FOIA request by Judicial Watch (JW), Issa asserted: “It is disturbing and perhaps criminal … that documents like these were hidden by the Obama administration from Congress and the public alike.”
Recent emails from a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request made by Judicial Watch which indicates that Ben Rhodes, speech writer for President Obama, “conducted meetings with” former UN Ambassador Susan Rice to collaborate on her now infamous “Benghazi comments”.
Journalist Jennifer Rubin asserts : “The Rhodes memo certainly seems to confirm the allegations Republicans have been making for more than a year: the White House was intentionally spinning after the attack so as not to damage their reelection prospects. The White House denied this, and now there is evidence the critics were right. Isn’t the mainstream media the least bit curious about what happened? You’d think their new-found independence and critical analysis of Obama foreign policy would provoke some rumination about Benghazi. Or perhaps, they are simply unwilling to recognize that they missed the boat all along and concede that conservative media scooped them again and again.”
Issa is appauled that “these documents were withheld from Congress for more than 19 months [and] the [US State] Department is not entitled to delay responsive materials because it is embarrassing or implicates the roles and actions of senior officials.”
Last December, the New York Times (NYT) reported that al-Qaeda was not involved in the attack in Benghazi.
The report reads: “The attack was led, instead, by fighters who had benefited directly from NATO’s extensive air power and logistics support during the uprising against Colonel Qaddafi.”
Speaking about the diversionary video used by the Obama administration as the catalyst for starting an incident, the report claims that “contrary to claims by some members of Congress, it was fueled in large part by anger at an American-made video denigrating Islam.”
The 14 minute film produced by Sam Bacile, informant for the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) whose real name is Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, was ascertained to be the cause of the outrage which resulted in an attack in Benghazi, according to the Obama administration.
Back in May, the Obama administration released 100 pages of emails concerning the investigation in Benghazi.
Michael Morrell, deputy director for the CIA released a memo with lines redacted wherein the CIA warned about Islamic extremists.
This censorship was approved by the US State Department.
In the emails, the “talking points” begun by UN Ambassador Susan Rice were outlined. The CIA apparently approved the information before Rice spoke to the press.
The actual cover-up regarding Benghazi continues because neither the US government, their agencies, nor the media is willing to address the real reason Benghazi happened in the first place.
