Occupy Corporatism
January 24, 2013
President Barack Obama set the tone of his second term as Communist in Chief of the US with a call for collectivism and communitarianism. The preservation of social programs is high on Obama’s list; as well as a march toward leading the world on climate change and clean energy.
The undercurrent of progressive democratic ideology purveyed the inaugural speech.
During the inaugural ceremony, Myrlie Evers-Williams, widow of Medger Evers, spoke. She gave her blessing, saying: “America, we are here, our nation’s capital, on this day, January the 21st, 2013, the inauguration of our 45th president, Barack Obama.”
Obama is the 44th president, even though he is serving a second term in the White House.
Wayne LaPierre, vice president of the National Rifle Association (NRA) responded to Obama’s inaugural speech saying: “I’d like to talk to you about one line at the end of President Obama’s speech where he said, quote ‘We cannot mistake absolutism for principles’. We’re told that to stop insane killers, we must accept less freedom, less than the criminal class and the political elites, less than they keep for themselves.”
LaPierre went on to say: “We believe we deserve and have every right to the same freedom that our government leaders keep for themselves and the same capabilities and the same technologies that criminals use to prey upon us and our families. That means we believe in our right to defend ourselves and our families with semiautomatic firearms technologies.”
LaPierre asserted that Obama is now attempting to become a “self-appointed arbiter of what freedom really means” by rewriting the English language. LaPierre continued: “Mr. President, just because you wish words meant something other than what they mean, you don’t have the right to define them any way you want. Because when words can mean anything, they mean nothing. When absolutes are abandoned for principles, the U.S. Constitution becomes a blank slate for anyone’s graffiti.”
Scathingly, LaPierre concluded: “Mr. President you might think calling us ‘absolutist’ is a clever way of name calling without using names. But if that is absolutist, then we are as absolutist as our founding fathers and the framers of our Constitution and we are proud of it.”
It is LaPierre’s contention that Obama would put the private sale of guns “under the thumb of the federal government” for the purpose of taxation and ultimately restricting access to law-abiding citizens. He said that Obama’s scheme is to disarm the population while doing nothing to stop the armament of criminals who would be able run free, committing crimes without fear of retaliation from a community that cannot defend themselves.
A mainstream media poll showed that 52% of participants admitted to being gun owners. Sixty-five percent said they would defy the law “if the government passed a law to take guns” and would refuse to give them up.
Sheriffs from across the nation have risen up against the proposed federal gun grab; stating emphatically that they will not stand for the destruction of the 2nd Amendment in their county. So far, seven sheriffs have stood up to announce publically that they will defend the Constitutional right to bear arms within their jurisdiction.
Sheriff Grayson Robinson of Arapahoe County, Colorado, refuses to enforce any federal mandate restricting the 2nd Amendment rights of Americans. Robinson said: “Public safety professionals serving in the executive branch do not have the constitutional authority, responsibility, and in most cases, the credentials to determine the constitutionality of any issue.”
Robinson’s deputies responded to the Batman shooting last year. Despite the use of the tragic shooting to justify the necessity of gun control restrictions, Robinson explained: “Acts of violence and gun violence have and will, sadly, continue to victimize our community and our country. We all have an obligation to our families, neighbors, our community and our country to be engaged and to demand that well-considered, meaningful, and sustainable solutions to these senseless acts of violence are implemented in a timely manner.”
Sheriff Dean Wilson of Del Norte County, California, has admitted that he has recently awoken to the “assault against our people by the federal government.”
Sheriff Greg Hagwood of Plumas County, California; Sheriff John Lopey of Siskiyou County, California; and Sheriff Glen Palmer of Grant County, Oregon has been vocal in their stance against federal intervention in their counties.
Former Sheriff Richard Mack recognizes: “It’s becoming a national movement now.” Mack is organizing an event where 200 sheriffs will be in attendance to meet and discuss how to stand together to deal with the federal government concerning gun control legislation.
Sheriff Tim Mueller of Linn County, Oregon wrote a letter to Vice President Joe Biden. Mueller said: “My deputies and I take that responsibility very seriously and, like you, have sworn to support the Constitution of the United States. I take that oath equally as serious as protecting our citizens.” He explained that “politicians are attempting to exploit the deaths of innocent victims by advocating for laws that would prevent honest, law abiding Americans from possessing certain firearms and ammunition magazines.”
Mueller asserted: “Any federal regulation enacted by Congress or by executive order of the President offending the constitutional rights of my citizens shall not be enforced by me or by my deputies, nor will I permit the enforcement of any unconstitutional regulations or orders by federal officers within the borders of Linn County Oregon.”
