The 5th addition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) has been published . This book is used by mental healthcare workers, researchers, the psychiatric community and insurance corporations to better classify more individuals with mental disorders.

The expansion of the DSM-5 has resulted in diagnostic inflation with more individuals at risk of being labeled with one kind of disorder or another.

New disorders that could warrant pharmacological or psychological interference include:

• Bereavement – which assists the community “prevent major depression from being overlooked and facilitates the possibility of appropriate treatment including therapy or other interventions.”
• Binge eating – which is now defined as “recurring episodes of eating significantly more food in a short period of time than most people would eat under similar circumstances, with episodes marked by feelings of lack of control.”
• Asperger’s syndrome – as part of the autism spectrum with the revised diagnosis that “represents a new, more accurate, and medically and scientifically useful way of diagnosing individuals with autism-related disorders.”

In 1987, pre-menstrual syndrome (PMS) was defined as an expression of conflicting societal expectations imposed on women. The “disorder” has been redefined as being a cognitive reframing of symptoms that is indicative of menstrual distress.

Gender Identity Disorder (GID) is no longer an issue of psychiatric focus; but rather the problem now appears to be “gender dysphoria” or the attention toward those who feel distressed about their gender identity. Effectively, the mental issue has been redirected to those perceiving the transgender person.

Children who were once considered as having childhood bipolar disorder (CBD) for having regular temper tantrums will now be classified as having disruptive mood dysregulation disorder (DMDD).

Because the language in the definition is so vague and the diagnosis has no scientific support, this opens up the door for psychiatrist to prescribe psychotropic drugs to toddlers who throw tantrums and condition parents to believe their child is mentally ill because of a natural stage in their mental development.

Professor Christopher Dowrick said that depression is becoming a western culture-bound syndrome more than a universal disorder. While the genetic cause of depression has not been located, it seems to be a catch all for a wide range of mental disorders that warrants pharmaceutical drugs for treatment.

Dorwick asserts: “In western anglophone societies we have developed an ethic of happiness, in which aberrations … are assumed to indicate illness.”

Dr. Keith Ablow denounced the DSM-5 as a “manual [that] fails to accurately describe and classify psychiatric illness.”

Ablow explains that the “160 or so supposedly distinct disorders don’t hold up as truly separate illnesses that can be studied scientifically. The American Psychiatric Association (APA) is inventing names for conditions that don’t exist.”

The problem with the DSM-5 is that those involved in its development have ties to the pharmaceutical industry which means that the reclassification of natural emotional responses in life as being psychiatric disorders that necessitate pharmacological therapies has increased.

This places the general public at risk for misdiagnosis and over medication.

According to a study published in 2006 entitled, “Psychiatric Disorders Among Obese Binge Eaters” found that person 60% of people who eat too much meet “criteria for one or more psychiatric disorders.”

The National Institutes of Mental Health (NIMH) stated earlier this month that the DSM-4 was not going to be supported anymore and that they will not “fund research projects that rely exclusively on DSM criteria because it considers the manual to be lacking in scientific validity.”

While the DSM focuses on symptoms as indicative of mental defects, the NIMH states that using biomarkers is the correct way to identify mental illness. Essentially, the NIMH contends that simply talking to the patient and assessing their responses is not a clear scientific way of diagnosing and prescribing psychiatric medication for mental disorders.

Indeed, the division of clinical psychology at the British Psychological Society said that there is no scientific validity to the diagnosis’ schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

Dr. Lucy Johnstone remarked that there is a mix-up with biological causes and mental disorders.

Johnstone said: “On the contrary, there is now overwhelming evidence that people break down as a result of a complex mix of social and psychological circumstances – bereavement and loss, poverty and discrimination, trauma and abuse.”

May 21, 2013

According to a study released by the Child Study Center (CSC), male children who suffered from attention-deficit/hypersensitivity disorder (ADHD) were 2 times as likely to become obese as adults.

Franscico Xavier Castellanos, professor of child and adolescent psychology and lead author of the study, explained: “Few studies have focused on long-term outcomes for patients diagnosed with ADHD in childhood. In this study, we wanted to assess the health outcomes of children diagnosed with ADHD, focusing on obesity rates and Body Mass Index (BMI).”

Sherry Pagoto, professor who conducted a previous study regarding ADHD and obesity, said : “There’s definitely been enough research now where it does appear there is some connection between these two disorders.”

Castellanos contends that after socioeconomic status and environment were factored in, the obesity still persisted as an obvious link.

Charles Shubin, medical doctor who was not involved in the study remarked : “We are paying attention to obesity more and more these days. It would make a lot of sense to perhaps emphasize that issue with boys who have ADHD as they move into adulthood, no matter what. We would want to pay attention to anybody who’s at risk for obesity and hopefully manage it.”

Castellanos maintains: “As we learn more about the regions of the brain that may be implicated in obesity, they overlap with brain regions implicated in ADHD. The reward system seems to be relevant to both conditions.”

Parents are being advised to pay attention to their child’s weight over time to decipher if they are at risk. With obesity comes the likelihood that the child will develop type – 2 diabetes as an adult.

Pharmaceutical corporations such as Eli Lily, Shire Pharmaceuticals, GlaxoSmithKline and Genopham funded the study; along with governmental agencies such as the National Institutes of Mental Health (NIMH) and the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA); along with the International Outgoing Fellowship (NOF).

This study compliments the recent claims of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that 20% of the children in America suffer from ADHD and other mental disorders.

Because of this “epidemic”, the US government, according to the study, is monitoring American children and “mental disorders, and presents estimates of the number of children with specific mental disorders.”

In fact, last year a propaganda study published claimed that Ritalin and Adderall (two pharmaceutical drugs used to treat ADHD) can prevent the mind of hyperactive children from becoming criminals. Cooper contends that these drugs should continue to be administered through adulthood to prevent criminal activity later in life.

So far, 5% of the children in the US have been diagnosed with ADHD, a psychiatric disorder wherein the non-medical opinion of a psychologist that a child is hyperactive, impulsive, has difficulty paying attention and therefore must be given pharmaceutical drugs so that “focus in school” can be achieved.

Dr. Andrew Adesman, chief of developmental and behavioral pediatrics at the Steven and Alexandra Cohen Children’s Medical Center, admits that not all children marked as ADHD go on to become criminals or divorcees, and that the majority of them simply grow out of the behavior. Yet, Adesman still maintains that despite the fact that ADHD is a phase of childhood that rarely carries into adulthood that “collectively, people with ADHD are at risk for a range of poor outcomes.”

According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), ADHD is treated with stimulants such as Methylphenidate (Ritalin, Metadate, Concerta, Daytrana), Amphetamine (Adderall), or Dextroamphetamine (Dexedrine, Dextrostat). These drugs have been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for children as young as 6 years old.

The accepted treatment of ADHD has a list of dangerous side effects such as:

• Being anti – social or withdrawn
• Feeling hopeless, worthless
• Extreme suicidal thoughts
• Panic attacks
• Insomnia
• Aggressive and/or violent behavior
• Sudden changes in mood/behavior

Leon Eisenberg, the “father of ADHD” who received the Ruane Prize for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Research award in 2009 for his contribution to research in child psychiatry, stated in his last interview before he passed away in 2012 that “ADHD is a prime example of a fictitious disease.”

Dr. Fred Baughman, child neurologist and ADHD researcher states that the advent of ADHD diagnoses is a scheme to sell more anti – psychotic drugs to young children by the pharmaceutical corporations in conjunction with the psychiatric community. Baughman insists that a normal development in children has now been socially accepted as a neurological disorder that requires psychiatric treatment.

Annually, Ritalin sales reach the billions and Adderall has unquestionably surpassed the once leading drug treatment for ADHD to become the drug of choice for pediatricians. However, doctors admit that the children “grow out of the symptoms of ADHD” and that none of the accepted pharmaceuticals actually cure the alleged disease.

Researchers, in keeping with the necessity for drugs to treat ADHD, claim that video games, television, and genetics are the causes of the “disease” while completely ignoring the chemical additives in processed foods that would be heightening a normal function in the neurological development of children.

Maida Galvez, M.D., director of pediatric environmental health at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, explains that: “Scientific evidence is limited to support the association between food additives and ADHD symptoms. Although it is possible that a very small group of children who are allergic to artificial colorings or preservatives may show improvement in symptoms on restriction diets, evidence is insufficient to recommend routine, widespread use of restriction diets to treat a child’s ADHD symptoms.”

Artificial food coloring in addition to the preservative sodium benzoate was shown in studies to incited hyperactivity in children that had not been previously diagnosed with ADHD.

Drug corporations that benefit from this scheme are:

• Johnson & Johnson
• Shire
• Eli Lily

In 2010, there was an explosion of sales for drugs treating ADHD to the extent that manufacturers could not keep the drugs on the “shelf”. Without having a clear science of diagnosis, any psychiatrist could (and did) deem as many children as possible with this label for the sake of profits to the pharmaceutical industry as well as lending credibility to the interpretive world of psychiatry because this specialty analyses emotional responses and behaviors without using scientific measurements or knowledge of causational disturbances that are reflected in real, physical diseases.

ADHD is one of the most lucrative schemes concocted by the psychiatric community in order to justify the development of pharmaceutical drugs that were already in production.

Occupy Corporatism
October 23, 2012

An estimated 14,000 people in the US are at risk for having contracted meningitis for having a steroid injection that has caused a nationwide outbreak from contaminated mixed drugs, called methylprednisolone, manufactured by New England Compounding Center (NECC). A total of 17,000 vials have been shipped to 23 states.

Reported by mainstream propaganda, the recorded meningitis cases have been caused by the fungus Exserohilum, a type of black mold. Exserohilum can cause skin and sinus infections, inflammation of the lining of the heart, and bone infections. It also weakens the human immune system which can cause other infections. Treatment includes intravenous doses of voriconazole, a severe antifungal drug which causes liver and kidney complications, as well as hallucinations and irregular heart rhythms.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has released an updated report claiming no new deaths due to meningitis. The CDC has reported that 23 people have died. Two hundred and ninty-four cases of infection have been reported in 16 states.

Ameridose, a subsidiary of the NECC has shut down due to the meningitis outbreak. An inspection of the facility is being conducted to determine the extent of the contamination. According to the Food and Drug Administration, “the current production shutdown of Ameridose may impact supplies of certain drugs for some health care systems.”

The meningitis outbreak across the nation downplays the fact that this is actually an outbreak of acute flaccid paralysis (AFP) or polio. When an individual becomes infected with the polio virus, they can develop different versions of the virus which include asceptic meningitis. Meningitis has become a new reference for polio which has been surfacing across the globe.

While the World Health Organization (WHO) back in April, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) travelled to India to administer polio vaccines which resulted in an outbreak of non-polio paralysis. Grants provided to the Indian government from BMGF and WHO funded the vaccination program.

Dr. Neetu Vashisht and Dr. Jacob Puliyel of the Department of Pediatrics at St Stephens Hospital in Delhi, India reported that after extensive lab synthesis of the polio strain in 2002, the polio virus has returned in a weaponized form that is proving impossible to eradicate.

The BMGF has poured millions of dollars into supporting Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunizations (GAVI), a UN agency that also works in conjunction with WHO to administer vaccines to under-developed nations.

WHO and GAVI teamed up with the World Bank and UN Population Fund in the 1970′s under the Task Force on Vaccines for Fertility Regulation. The Task Force, “…acts as a global coordinating body for anti-fertility vaccine R&D.” GAVI is heavily funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for the global vaccination projects. WHO hope to coerce polio-free countries to donate money. They also suggest that officials from polio-free countries have officials at airports to administer vaccinations to people at arriving from affected nations.

Back in June of this year, the FDA approved GlaxoSmithKline’s (GSK) new meningitis vaccine, MenHirix, (MHV) to be administered to infants between the ages of 6 weeks and 18 months. This drug was to be manufactured at the Belgium-based arm of GSK Biologicals.

The history of this vaccine includes the FDA’s rejection of MHV due to GSK’s lack of evidence for the necessity of it; as well as its potency and efficiency. Since the FDA relies solely on the data provided to them from the drug makers for study conclusions without conducting independent study of the accuracy of the data, GSK was able to have their vaccine approved.

In conjunction with the GSK vaccine, the CDC released propaganda urging parents to subject their children to the vaccine, claiming it would protect against the infection’s ability to attack the thin lining surrounding the brain and spinal cord.

Karen Midthum, director of the center for biologics at the FDA stated that “with today’s approval of Menhibrix, there is now a combination vaccine that can be used to prevent potentially life-threatening Hib disease and two types of meningococcal disease in children. It is the first meningococcal vaccine that can be given starting as young as six weeks of age.”

Dr. Leo Friedland, vice president of clinical and medical affairs at GSK North American division says: “(Meningitis) is one of those diseases that although not common, when it occurs it’s absolutely devastating and horrible. It presents to the doctor when a child just looks ill, and within 18 to 24 hours, they’re on the deathbed in the hospital. . . To be able to have a vaccine to prevent meningitis is really a great day.”

• The MHV targets only the C and Y strains of meningococcal bacteria and the Hib bacteria (a.k.a. Haemophilus influenzae type b).
• GSK says there is no vaccine in the US to treat the B strain of the meningococcal bacteria.
• GSK is planning on administering 1.1 billion doses of MHV to 173 countries in developed and developing countries.
• GSK maintains that MHV was evaluated on 7,500 infants and toddlers in the U.S., Mexico and Austria.

In 1998, scientists at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, discovered that noscapine could be used to combat tumors. Noscapine is derived from the opium poppy plant; the same source of heroin and the painkiller, morphine.

The drug version , called noscapine, is used as a cough suppressant in some countries. It is now being praised as a promising cancer-fighting agent .

Noscapine has been used in trial testing on animals and human cancer cells. It has proven to be effective in shrinking breast and prostate tumors; while possibly a preventative for metastasis (the spread of tumors throughout the body).

The production of noscapine may prove difficult because of the labor-intensive methods used to extract the natural chemical. While industrial manufacturing of commercial opioids are froth with chemicals necessary to produce drugs, they are low on noscapine or are not present at all.

Since 1998, a new study by scientists at the University of York and funded by pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline, proves that synthetic noscapine (engineered opium) can be created by cross-breeding poppy plants and enhancing the production of noscapine by clustering together 10 genes responsible for its production.

Tim Bowser, co-author and lead researcher and developer for GlaxoSmithKline’s Australian opiates division said: “The fact that the genes are grouped in a cluster means that plant breeding becomes faster and easier. [We] are using this discovery to develop high-yielding commercial noscapine poppies in order to establish a reliable route of supply.”

Australia produces large quantities of legal opioids. After negotiations in the 60’s and 70’s, the US government imports opium from Turkey for medical use.
The opium harvest fields in Afghanistan, controlled by the US military, are the perfect stores to obtain large amounts of poppy plants for study by drug corporations.

Most of the opium grown in Afghanistan is under the supervision of the Taliban and US troops in the region. While the Taliban has imposed a ban on opium production just after the US invaded Afghanistan in 2001, the Northern Alliance, which was supported by the US military, began protecting the fields where the raw production of opium was most prevalent.

The UN’s Office on Drugs and Crime oversee the UN’s Drug Control Program which estimates that in 2006, Afghanistan supplied 92% of the world’s opium.

In conjunction with the CIA, NATO and British military forces, Afghanistan has been forced to continue its opium growing operations.

Writer William Blum said, “CIA-supported Mujahedeen rebels [who in 2001 were part of the Northern Alliance] engaged heavily in drug trafficking while fighting against the Soviet-supported government and its plans to reform the very backward Afghan society.”

However, the UN and WHO are more concerned with keeping the supply of opium flowing for “medical purposes” which is extremely profitable.

The World Health Organization (WHO) surmised that there is a severe shortage of opium-derived pain medications. The UN assumes Afghanistan could produce as estimated 4,200 tons of opium that WHO could be using to treat those patients in severe pain.

The discovery of synthetic opium could be the answer WHO was looking for.

Physicians have been using noscapine off-label to treat cancer because it is approved for use in some countries. Research data suggests noscapine could be a treatment for:

• ovarian cancer
• myeloma
• lung cancer
• colon cancer
• breast and prostate tumors

In 2009, Johnson & Johnson purchased Cougar Biotechnology, a pharmaceutical corporation, with the expressed purpose of getting into the synthetic opium industry. They intended to cash in on the laboratory created chemical and will push for more trials since the discovery of GlaxoSmithKline.
