A new alarmist study claims that children’s exposure to car exhaust, smog, and other air pollution are directly causational to their future diagnosis of autism.
The researchers analyzed data from 500 children living in California wherein 50% were suffering from autism and the others were not. The data provided to researcher was provided by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The EPA warns against the use of wood-burning stoves, tobacco smoking and gas heaters; which are directed data that influenced the results of the study.
The account of the pregnancies was taken into consideration – along with environmental statistics such as:
• Emissions from local vehicles
• Vicinity traffic volume
• Estimates of pollutants and exposure
• Estimates of the child’s likely exposure to pollutants like particulates, nitrogen, oxide, ozone
The alarmists surmised that the children had a 25% exposure to pollutants and this was the cause for the rise in autistic diagnoses. Yet even in the study, the researchers admit that the bulk of their findings are based on assumptions that cannot be corroborated.
Heather Volk, lead author of the study and assistant professor of preventive medicine at the University of Southern California, explains: “We’re not saying that air pollution causes autism. We’re saying it may be a risk factor for autism. Autism is a complex disorder and it’s likely there are many factors contributing.”
Volk says that genetic factors must be considered because this would cause a child to become more susceptible to the symptoms of autism. And pollutants in the environment could exacerbate the likelihood of manifesting the condition such as autism.
According to Volk, “There is evidence that the immune system might be associated with autism, and pollution affects these same pathways.”
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported recently that 1 in 88 children in America have been diagnosed with autism on some level of the symptom spectrum.
The researchers assert that environment is the defining factor in developing autism. Volk was involved in another study published in 2010 that claimed autistic children were found to have had mothers that lived within 1,000 feet of a freeway. Like her other study, Volk has taken the assumption of environmental pollution and correlated this climate change issue to the rising trend of autism in America.
Volk’s new study elaborates her past findings, which directly support the agendas of man-made global warming alarmists. The issue of environment and diseases such as autism can be “an understudied” science until recently.
Volk’s study can support the growing outcry of climate change alarmists that would like to see President Obama make an obvious effort to reduce greenhouse emissions in the US. By citing recent extreme weather, the destruction and devastation brought on by Sandy and droughts across the nation that resulted in less food production have cost Americans hundreds of billions of dollars.
Newly re-selected President Obama recently announced his commitment to “tackle the issue of climate change.”
Obama continued to say that: “. . . we can’t attribute any particular weather event to climate change. What we do know is the temperature around the globe is increasing faster than was predicted even 10 years ago. We do know that the Arctic ice cap is melting faster than was predicted even five years ago. We do know that there have been extraordinarily — there have been an extraordinarily large number of severe weather events here in North America, but also around the globe. And I am a firm believer that climate change is real, that it is impacted by human behavior and carbon emissions. And as a consequence, I think we’ve got an obligation to future generations to do something about it.”
During his first term, Obama added to the Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE), however there are conversations being had with “a wide-ranging conversation with scientists, engineers and elected officials to find out what can — what more can we do to make short-term progress in reducing carbons, and then working through an education process . . . to make sure that this is not something we’re passing on to future generations that’s going to be very expensive and very painful to deal with.”
In his victory rally speech, Obama explained that he did not believe it was fair to “burden” our children to live in a world that is “threatened by the destructive power of a warming planet.”
The day after Obama was declared Commander-in-Communism, he asserted that instilling carbon taxes would “help cut the US budget deficit.” Beginning at $20 per metric ton of carbon dioxide tax, which would be raised 6% annually would be “applied to the Congressional Budget Office’s 2012 baseline, this would halve the fiscal deficit by 2022.”
Alarmists continuously ignore actual scientific data which shows that the earth is in a cooling phase and could actually cause another ice age.
Efforts to cool the planet such as solar geoengineering facilitated by David Keith and Bill Gates are causing more destruction to our environment while alarmist studies are published like Volk’s recent findings that redirect the blame for environmental destruction on the general public.
In a study published in the journal Remote Sensing, co-author Dr. Roy Spencer reported that real data from NASA’s Terra Satellite completely contradicts the assumptions made by climate change alarmists.
According to a press release, at the University of Alabama, Spencer said: “The satellite observations suggest there is much more energy lost to space during and after warming than the climate models show. There is a huge discrepancy between the data and the forecasts that is especially big over the oceans.”
The reality is that Volk and her studies are part of a larger scheme to guilt the American public into supporting the efforts of eco-fascists who are endeavoring to lead the sheeple toward Agenda 21 and UN mandates on climate change.
